Fairy Dance Hoods, New Design Brewing?

New design in the works! I haven't decided if I'll post the pattern for this one or not. If I am going to put it up then there has to be a lot of working through all the rough spots, and right now there's a bunch. That's ok though because really I'm still in the planning stage. I love this part! I get to try different textures and combinations and go hmmmmm.... and wait for the little light bulb to go off. Of course, when the bulb burns out it's most frustrating lol.
I guess maybe I should say what I mean by "this one" in my referencing. "This one" is the Fairy Dance Hood I am cooking up for my Etsy shop. I knit one up last night in what I would consider a children's medium. It's cute, but not quite what I was going for. Right now I'm in the beginning stages of another in an adult size. I want something whimsical, but wearable. Comfortable, but fashionable. Not asking much from myself here. ;o)
Back to work!

Under the Weather

So I'm sick and it's been nearly a week now. I'm not a good sick person. I whine a lot. I find breathing freely very enjoyable and tend to get a little grumpy when it's not possible. I might recover faster if I sat in bed with medicine, my knitting, and lots of tea and water and did absolutely nothing else, but what dream world is that? There are things to do! Places to go! and today, lessons to teach. I just hope I can get through those lessons without coughing too much or losing my voice completely.

On a more happy note, I'm still loving my new hair cut! It has to be the most awesome style I've ever gotten. My stylist was right, I think I'll be keeping this one. Of course, that means more money spent on regular trims, but I don't care. Sometimes there are things which you simply must spoil yourself with. And I am a big supporter of self pampering. I've found that taking the time to take care of yourself makes you more willing to take time for other people as well. If you're unsatisfied why would you find joy or pleasure in making someone else happy first? Maybe it's just me. I'm not into that whole martyr business.

I've finally started on Dad's Christmas present. This year I'm knitting him the Andean Chullo Hat from Knit Picks. I've never done color work before, so this is a new skilled learned as well. So far I've managed to complete one earflap. It took me a few hours because I'm not used to wrapping the yarns, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I did a gauge swatch, but I've found I don't always get that right. ;o) So..... my big fear is not that I'll mess up the color (but let me tell ya, tinking colorwork is a bitch), but that it will be too small! Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll probably start on the other earflap today sometime.
Besides the worry about the hat finishing up too small, I think this will be a fun knit. It's certainly not a project I can take with me to knitting group, but that's fine. I enjoy patterns that take thought and concentration. It gives me a focus. Also, following a chart, whether it be lace or color, is so rewarding as the pattern blossoms before your eyes. Love it!
